My favorite part of the week, brunch is here. This time, it took place at Gramercy Park Hotel where I’ve previously been for Rose Bar and hotel class tours. Unlike GPH’s dim, Tim Burton inspired interior, Maialino feels like having picnics in the Hamptons with checkerboard table mat.
Pancakes were just what you would imagine at a hotel restaurant: over priced yet heavenly fluffy. Fig compote was another story- I like figs, especially melted in with ridiculous amount of sugar but I couldn’t take another bite of the weirdly sour fruit chunk. Trusting Yelpers’ Cacio e Pepé love, I ordered and conquered- it was unique.
The real winner is bacon (when is it not)- it was the most succulent kind any carnivore would sacrifice his/her pinky for. It was that good.
